FINISHED!

It is 2:30 pm....I have been up since about 8:30am? And working on K-9...not every mimute, mind you...but enough time. Once I got started sewing and stuffing, I got in a groove to finish him.

I will only say one more thing about the crap instructions on how this little booger was to be assembled. The entire instructions on what to do with K-9's head reads:

"Firmly attach the head." That's it, thats all you get.

Anyway, there isn't much more to say, so I will show you the pictures:

K-9 and Company

After complaining about the pattern for K-9 and the mind numbing knitting...I have finished the knitting part of K-9 and begun his construction. There isn't much to look at as a lot of it is mostly in pieces that are curling from being tight stockinette stitch. However, I have sewn and begun to stuff K-9's body. I need to finish stuffing and sew the final edge. His head will go on the panel that still needs to be sewn (on the left side of the picture)



I still have to fiddle with the lumps, but it is 11:39pm and I am done for the night.

The Malabrigo scarf is going swimmingly... for review, here is what the scarf USED to look like:

Malabrigo BREAKTHROUGH

I have been working on the My So Called Scarf scarf pattern for awhile. And even though I was loving working with Malabrigo worsted weight yarn, it was not coming out right.

I don't know if you can see the difference in the pictures. But in person there was a BIG difference.

Anyway, a couple of days ago, I was lead to a YouTube video of someone showing the stitches on the My So Called Scarf and DING I realized I was doing it wrong. I was supposed to be repeating ONLY the part of the pattern between the astericks on the first row...I was repeating the whole pattern on the first row...dumbass alert!

So I have ripped it out and I now have a good 2 1/2 feet done on it and it looks, can I say delicious?! I love it.

K-9 is still progressing while I continue to grumble about the crappiness of the pattern. I am on a huge piece of K-9 that is basically mind-numbing, so I have been working on the Malabrigo scarf more...

More Who knitting

I have been lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of the book "The Doctor Who Pattern Book" by Joy Gammon. This book was first released in 1984 and has never been re-released. I got a brand spanking new copy for about $5 in Sept or Oct? But anyway...

There is a pattern to knit a K-9 plush toy. K-9 is the 4th doctor's robot/computer dog.


From the tiny picture in the book, the result will be a very cute little stuffed animal. However, the pattern is badly written and I would not want to be a beginning knitter trying to make this piece. There are no pictures/drawings to show what the pieces should look like or how they are sewn together. Just a paragraph to explain the construction. I really want the K-9 so I am slogging through it...we'll see how it goes.

Where am I getting all these projects from when I have no job? Have I mentioned the size of my stash? I am SO glad I built up over the years, because although I have a lot of mess, angst and anxiety over my job situation...I think I have enough yarn stashed away to knit my way through unemployment! THis is one positive in a lot of negative.

Yarn Davros

What is a yarn Davros? Davros was the creator of the Daleks in the Doctor Who TV show. I have now taken on the mantle of Yarn Davros, seeing as how I have now created two of the little boogers.

My second yarn Dalek was created for my friend, L_. It was a custom job, based on the Emperor Dalek. Here he is:




L_ and I had a great time at the Gallifrey 2008 Doctor Who COnvention. We met so many nice people and basically had a lot of fun.

There was a lot of knitting at Gallifrey 2008. I finished about 1/2 of my second Harry Potter Ravenclaw scarf [I still have 1/2 a Hufflepuff to do]. But not all the knitting was done by me. I saw at least 6 ladies knitting and 2 ladies crocheting during the sessions. There was even a woman knitting a dalek, which looked fab, I saw it when it was finished.



In other Gallifrey/knitting news. People really dug my scarves! I even had a guy come up to me and commission me to make him a scarf. Keep your fingers crossed that he e-mails me to confirm...I quoted him a price of $75 to $100 and he didn't flinch. We shall see. Not like I don't have the time, ya know being unemployed and all.

What else am I knitting? Still working on the Jaywalker socks. I am going through the "second-sock-syndrome" right now, where I seem to be avoiding finishing the 2nd sock. It isn't that I don't like the pattern or don't want the socks. I don't know what it is...I got sock block.

Also haven't touched the afghan for my couch in months. I am sure I will be inspried to work on it once it hits summer and it is too hot to have that thing in my lap while I am knitting.



Also haven't touched the Anne Lace Shawl in months. THAT is flat out avoidence of the lace pattern. It never fails that I get really cooking on it and I mess it up royally, then I have to rip back...blah blah blah...two steps forward, one step back.



I have all the yarn to complete my Noro Silk Garden cable bag now, I just have to go through the tediousness of knitting the strap and then sewing the pieces together. I am going to try the matress stitch, I think it will make a nice edge. I will probably be too lazy to line the bag.

Totally Gone

OK...I admit it...the Doctor Who thing has gotten out of control, but HEY, I am about to go to my first Who convention and I am kinda excited...

I have finally done it...I have knit my own Dalek (my favorite baddy from Doctor Who).



I have had the pattern for about a year and hadn't done it. Then, I was watching Who this weekend and watched the "Remembrance of the Daleks" episode and I got inspired. I decided I needed a Dalek NOW. Some of the Daleks in the episode looked like this:



I knew from taking an inventory of my yarn stash that I had some cheap yellow and white acyrlic yarn laying around...I decided to go for it.

I had thought it would really be hard to construct, but the pattern was really easy to follow and I learned a new technique...I learned how to make bobbles!

I am all ready to make my own army in every color combo I have laying around...

Yes, I AM insane and I love to knit and I love my Dalek
